When taking into consideration its price, LN55A950 is a much better deal than KDL-55XBR8. It is not exactly an equal of KDL-55XBR8 but the difference between them is not big either. Sony KDL-52XBR6 is a great performer. It doesn’t have LED backlight, but on the other hand it is cheaper by an order of magnitude compared to it’s brother from XBR8 series. Its picture is superb - deep black levels and accurate colors allow it to provide a super picture. It measures 52 inch.

Samsung LN52A750 is packed with features. It can’t make coffe for you in the morning, but it pretty much has everything else covered. It’s picture quality is superb, rivaling Sony KDL-52XBR6. Still in the picture quality department, It doesn’t realy bring an improvement over its cheaper brothers LN52A650 and LN52A550. The extra features though, increase its price when compared to the just mentioned Samsung models.

Priced similarly to Samsung LN52A550, this model from sony, though not exactly an equal when it comes to picture quality, manages to compensate in other areas. Though it can’t beat LN52A550 black levels it has very good colors and overall it comes close.

If you want a HDTV larger than 55 inch we recommend you to go for a plasma TV. Though LCD TVs larger than 55 inch exist, we consider that a plasma TV (60 - 65 inch) offers much better value. For a HDTV over 65 inch, your only viable option is a rear-projection TV (DLP).
